Bet Tzedek Civil Litigation Clinic Holds Pop-up Clinic

On Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, the students in the Bet Tzedek Civil Litigation Clinic of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law held an Advanced Directives Pop-Up Clinic for constituents from New York State Assemblyman Al Taylor’s Northern Manhattan district. The Pop-Up Clinic was held in the senior center at Dr. Muriel Petioni Plaza on West 146th Street. Second-year law students Tiffany Cheung and Tyler Dixon gave PowerPoint presentations on health care proxies and powers of attorney, followed by a Q&A with the audience. The Bet Tzedek students then counseled and assisted the participants with the drafting and execution of their own advanced directives. Approximately 25 community members attended the Pop-Up Clinic, which provided the community members with a critically important legal service, and the community members provided the Bet Tzedek students with an invaluable learning and lawyering experience.
