Samuelson, the Richard M. Sherman Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of California at Berkeley and a Co-Director of the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology, discussed “The Enigma of Digitized Property” posed by John Perry Barlow. Professor Jessica Roth Discusses Impeachment Inquiry on MSNBC

Professor Ekow Yankah Talks NCAA Rules on WFAE

Ekow Yankah Professor Ekow Yankah discussed his views on whether NCAA athletes should be paid on WFAE’s “Charlotte Talks.” He said, “I think the system is broken, and what’s the best way to fix it? If we want to fix the system, we don’t do it by collapsing the things that are valuable about college education...we should find ways to make sure that the degrees these students get are worthwhile.” Listen here»

Heyman Center Hosts "Antitrust in the Modern Economy"

Antitrust panelists at table The Samuel & Ronnie Heyman Center on Corporate Governance hosted “Antitrust in the Modern Economy,” including a panel of attorneys and Cardozo Professor Sam Weinstein, as the moderator. The panel discussed a variety of timely topics, including whether antitrust law is the right tool to handle the widely covered issue of “bigness,” particularly with respect to large technology companies. Professor Kate Shaw will speak on a panel at New York University’s Brennan Center focusing on threats to reproductive rights on Nov. 14. She will also be a panelist at the Jorde Symposium at the University of California, Berkeley Law on Nov. 21. Professor Myriam Gilles will be doing faculty workshops at the University of Texas on Nov. 4 and USC Nov. 14. Professor Suzanne Last Stone will speak at at the Annual Conference Selma Stern Zentrum of Culture, History and Jurisprudence, Berlin, Germany Nov. 17-19; 51st Annual Conference of the Association of Jewish Studies in San Diego on Dec. 17; and the Plenary Session of Annual Conference of Society of Jewish, Christian and Moslem Ethics, in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 12. Professor Lela Love will be the Moderator for Fordham Law School Symposium’s on ADR and Access to Justice; Scholar in Residence and Presenter for Conference of the International Academy of Mediators in Scottsdale, Arizona Nov. 7-9; and a Presenter for the Conference on Global Dispute Resolution of Pepperdine University School of Law on Nov. 22-23 in Malibu, California. Professor Richard Weisberg will address a gathering in Paris on Nov. 15, on the 20th anniversary of formal French efforts to restore to Jewish victims of Vichy a measure of the assets stolen from them during WWII. Professor Michel Rosenfeld is a speaker at a conference of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities which will take place in Jerusalem in December 2019. Professor Paul Gugliuzza will sit on a panel titled, “Teaching Intellectual Property Law,” at American Association of Law Schools Annual Meeting, Washington, D.C., in January 2020.
