Ferkauf's 55th Anniversary Gala

Congressman Patrick Kennedy to Deliver Keynote Address at November 11 Event Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy will deliver the keynote address at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology’s 55th Anniversary Gala Celebration. The event will take place at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City on Sunday, November 11 at 5 p.m.
Ferkauf will honor Patrick Kennedy on behalf of his advocacy of mental health services and research.
Congressman Kennedy and his father, the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy, will be recognized for their work as champions of the Mental Health Parity Bill and their advocacy of mental health services and research. In May 2011, Patrick Kennedy helped launch an initiative called One Mind for Research to improve funding and unify research efforts in brain science. “I appreciate this honor, especially for my father, and I am glad to be partnering with Ferkauf to advance the cause of mental health services and research,” said Kennedy. At the Gala, Kennedy will cite Ferkauf’s outstanding professional training program and stress the importance of continuing to fund, and ultimately increasing awareness for, mental health issues. Gala honorees also include Dr. Abraham Givner ’71F, in gratitude for his 40 years of outstanding dedication to Ferkauf and its students; The Beker Family Project, for providing training opportunities for Ferkauf students and psycho-educational services to Jewish day and other community schools; and Dr. Herbert Dobrinsky ’80F, who will receive the Dedicated Service Award in acknowledgement for his leadership in founding Ferkauf’s first Board of Overseers. The gala will pay special tribute to distinguished alumni Dr. Don David Lusterman ’73F; Dr. Ann Webster ’88F, and Dr. Susan Chinitz ’85F. “The gala honors seven outstanding individuals, as well as a unique cutting-edge training program,” said Ferkauf Dean Larry Siegel. “I am delighted to pay tribute to them and to bring recognition to our excellent school.” For reservations, to make a contribution or to learn more, please visit www.yu.edu/ferkauf/gala or contact Doris Holz, director of institutional advancement at Ferkauf, at holz@yu.edu or (212) 960-5393.
