From Campus to Campus, Sharing the Light

Yeshiva University Students Celebrate Chanukah with Vibrant Festivities and Acts of Charity

This Chanukah, Yeshiva University students lit up the Wilf and Israel Henry Beren Campuses with a whirlwind of celebrations and acts of chessed [kindness] that spread the holiday spirit across New York City.

From the carnival-themed Chanukahfest, which featured everything from a latke and corndog bar and Chanukah-themed food-building competition to a performance by acrobats Tic and Tac, to vibrant chagigas and communal menorah lightings, the atmosphere of unity and excitement on both campuses enhanced students’ connection to the holiday and each other.

But students also made sure others had a reason to smile: giving back was an important focus of many student activities this Chanukah, including a drive to collect toys for children through Ohel Children’s and Family Services, organizing volunteer trips to food kitchens and brightening up a Chanukah party for elderly Washington Heights residents with music and dance.
