Go West, Go West, Go West

Hudson Yards and the Rise of the West Side of Manhattan There is no hotter New York City real estate market than Hudson Yards, located on Manhattan’s west side. With an official opening slated for March 15, 2019, the Yeshiva University Real Estate Executive Circle held a panel discussion on Monday, March 11, 2019, on the ins, outs, ups and downs of this gargantuan real estate development. Hosted by Milbank LLP at their new offices at 55 Hudson Yards, the panelists included Erwin Dweck (Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP), Mikael Nahmias (Brookfield Properties) and Eli Weiss (Joy Construction), ably moderated by Michael Stoler (The Stoler Report). The conversation focused on the history of the Hudson Yards deal, tenancy rates and rents, financial incentives, retail opportunities, transportation, the “city within a city” concept, housing (including co-living), demographics, and the ongoing and future effects of the development on both the surrounding communities and the city itself. Ari Hirt ’88YC, managing director at Mission Capital Advisors and co-chair of the Executive Circle, was very pleased by the event. “We had a spectacular get-together where industry leaders were able to discuss their perspectives on what Hudson Yards means to the future of New York real estate. Once again, the YU Real Estate Executive Circle brought together high-level executives who want to network with one another and at the same time contribute financially to Yeshiva University.” For more information about the Office of Alumni’s networking groups, go to www.yuprofessionalnetworking.com
