Legal Theory and Jewish Studies Scholars to Participate in Workshop Series at Cardozo School of Law

Nov 17, 2005 -- Cardozo’s Program in Jewish Law & Interdisciplinary Studies, will be holding several workshops to encourage a cross-disciplinary conversation on the study of Jewish law. Each session will feature the presentation of a paper from either a legal or Jewish studies expert, with a response from experts in one or the other field. Fall 2005 workshop schedule: Monday, November 21, 2005, 5:30 p.m. Leib Moscovitz, senior lecturer, Bar-llan University, will present “Rabbinic Legal Thought: From Case Law to Conceptualization,” with responses by Prof. Arthur Jacobson, Cardozo School of Law, and Prof. Yaakov Elman, Yeshiva College and Bernard Revel Graduate School. Thursday, December 1, 2005, 6:45 p.m. Prof. George Fletcher, Columbia Law School, will present “Victims and Victims: The Theological Foundations of Criminal Law,” with a response by Prof. Albert Baumgarten, Bar-llan University.
