Officials From Republic of Palau Make Reciprocal Visit to Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy

Sep 14, 2005 -- Two officials from the Republic of Palau visited the Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/Yeshiva University High Schools (MSTA) to thank the students for their winter visit to that country.

Senator Alfonso N. Diaz and Senate Floor Leader Alan R. Seid addressed some of the high school students during a break from their responsiblilities at the United Nations General Assembly opening session.

“We were so touched that the students made their visit in January and we wanted to come to their campus to tell them thank you for fostering the friendship between Israel, the Jewish people and Palau,” Sen. Seid said.

The students made the trip as an expression of gratitude for that nation’s steadfast support of Israel in the United Nations. Other than the United States, the three nations of Micronesia –– the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), the Marshall Islands and Palau –– are the only nations who consistently vote in favor of Israel when resolutions condemning that country come before the UN General Assembly.

“This is our way of saying, ‘Israel, we care about you, we believe in your cause, and we support you,’” Sen. Seid Said.
