On Monday, April 26, 2021 the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program at Yeshiva College hosted a virtual meet-the-author seminar with Rabbi Dr. Joshua Berman, professor of Bible at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel. Rabbi Berman discussed his new book, Ani Maamin: Biblical Criticism, Historical Truth and the Thirteen Principles of Faith (Maggid, 2020).

YC Honors student attendees read Rabbi Berman’s book in advance of the event, and according to Dr. Eliezer Schnall, director of the Honors program, the students “engaged the author in a spirited discussion about his deeply thought-provoking text.” Brian Chernigoff '21YC, excited by the opportunity to meet the author, added, “Personally interacting with Rabbi Berman puts his book in an entirely different light for me.”

As the spring 2021 semester draws to a close, Dr. Schnall looks forward to the many dynamic and thought-provoking guest lecturers planned for the Honors program in the fall.
