Race to Save Lives

YUHSB Graduates in Israel Coordinate 5K Run to Raise Funds for United Hatzalah More than 400 hundred post-high school students spending the year studying in Israel recently gathered in Jerusalem for a 5K run called the “Race to Save Lives.” The program—coordinated by Alex Goldberg and Aharon Watson, graduates of Yeshiva University High School for Boys—raised money for United Hatzalah, an independent non-profit volunteer emergency medical services organization in Israel. “It was quite a challenge putting this event together,” said Goldberg. “From top to bottom, everyone worked day and night to get this amazing event accomplished and I’m extremely proud that we were able to make a real contribution.” In total, more than $250,000 was raised for the purchase of 10 United Hatzalah ambucylces. United Hatzalah Chief Coordinator Eli Beer was visibly moved when addressing the crowd and praised the leadership and teamwork of Alex and Aharon. “The commitment, enthusiasm and leadership illustrated by the young people before us today are an inspiration to me, our donors and all of our volunteers."
