The Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development partnered with the Yeshiva Student Union, Stern College for Women Student Council and the Networking Club for a two-event series to help freshmen and sophomores, in a relaxed, open format, learn about the career services available to them, networking skills and potential careers from YU seniors and young alumni. The first event, on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, featured Susan Bauer, executive director of the Shevet Glaubach Center, welcoming students to the SGC, followed by a presentation by Joshua Meredith, director of career advising and technology, on networking skills. Students then had the opportunity to attend virtual breakout rooms to meet members of the SGC advising team. During the second event on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, students were split into seven different groupings: medicine, accounting, journalism, finance, computer science, marketing, and education. Each virtual room was hosted by a member of the SGC staff, a member of the senior class and an alumnus/a for a discussion of career journeys. Steven Paul ’23SB, president of the Network Club, was very pleased by how the collaboration turned out. “These events have been instrumental for new students on campus to learn about different career paths,” said Paul. “So many students have gained tremendous insight into what the Career Center has to offer as well as the many different industries that they can pursue as a career.”
