Stern College for Women Hosts 80 Students for Thanksgiving Dinner

Nov 30, 2005 -- More than 80 Stern College students were guests of the college on Thanksgiving Day at Mendy’s restaurant in midtown Manhattan. The annual event is sponsored by the Office of Residence Life at the Beren Campus and was created by Rachel Kraut, director of residence life. “The Thanksgiving get-together offers our students an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving within the campus community,” said Ms. Kraut. Dr. Efrem Nulman, Senior University Dean of Students, joins the students each year with his family. “We look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with the students. It gives out- of-town students, and foreign students, a sense of belonging and adds a special dimension to their college experience.” “Since I don’t have family in the city, I really enjoyed spending time with friends and with students I don’t ordinarily hang out with, particularly the international students,” said Tara Delmoora senior, who hails from Minneapolis. “It was like a big family gathering.” Frieda Kahn, junior, a native of Chicago, enjoyed the opportunity to meet girls that she hadn’t met yet. “It was nice to be with Stern girls in relaxed atmosphere. It was a really special experience that the school provided for us.”
