In a world where instant access to entertainment through iPods, Youtube and Facebook encourages a superficial connectivity among younger generations, Zev Eleff probes the deeper questions of religion and values. A student in the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program at Yeshiva College, Eleff recently completed “Living from Convention to Convention: A History of the NCSY, 1954-1980” (Ktav Publishing House), a book that illuminates how past educators have engaged disaffected youth in meaningful dialogue and exploration through NCSY and the informal Jewish education movement in North America.

The largest Jewish book sale in North America, run by the Student Organization of Yeshiva (SOY), featuring more than 10,000 titles, including the latest in rabbinic and academic literature, cookbooks, children’s books, CDs, and educational software, opened on Feb. 9 and will run until March 2.
YC Book Project and Schneier Center Sponsor Lecture by Salman Rushdie
Yeshiva University students will have the opportunity to interact with author Salman Rushdie during his visit to campus on November 10. Four scholars will examine the Vietnam War’s lasting effect on American culture and history, US-Asia relations, and this year’s presidential election at a symposium, “The Vietnam War in Perspective,” at Yeshiva University on Thursday, April 22.
