Documentary About Jews and Basketball Featuring Coach Red Sarachek Premiers in New York City

When filmmaker David Vyorst decided to make “The First Basket,” a documentary about Jews and basketball, his research led him to Yeshiva University’s legendary coach Red Sarachek. The late Sarachek, deeply loved and immensely respected by his players, was also a major figure in the development of the game.

Annual Red Sarachek High School Basketball Tournament Now in Its 16th Year

Yeshiva University’s annual Red Sarachek High School Basketball Tournament, named for the university’s legendary men’s basketball coach, will be held March 15 – 19 at YU’s Max Stern Athletic Center on its Wilf Campus, 185th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. The games will be broadcast live at www.macslive.com.

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy Wins 13th Annual Red Sarachek High School Basketball Tournament

Seniors Ryan Almaleh and Eric Antes led Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy of Overland Park, KS, to victory at the 13th Annual Red Sarachek Basketball Tournament of Yeshiva University, as the Rams defeated top-seeded and previously unbeaten Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/Yeshiva University High School for Boys (TMSTA), 50-34, in the championship game March 22.

YU’s 13th Annual Red Sarachek High School Basketball Tournament Will Take Place March 18-22

The 13th annual Red Sarachek High School Basketball Tournament, named for Yeshiva University’s legendary men’s basketball coach, will take place Thursday, March 18 to Sunday, March 22 at YU’s Max Stern Athletic Center on its uptown Wilf Campus, 185th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. The games will be broadcast live at www.yu.edu/sarachek.
