Teaneck Yom Iyun

Bernard Revel School of Jewish Studies Presents Day of Learning at Congregation Rinat Yisrael on Jan. 2 Yeshiva University’s (YU) Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies invites the public to attend a Yom Iyun [day of learning] entitled Bridging Academic Jewish Scholarship and Torah Learning on Sunday, January 2 at Congregation Rinat Yisrael, 389 West Englewood Ave., Teaneck, NJ. The program will run from 10 am to 1 pm. The Yom Iyun program will include lectures by Revel and YU faculty: Dr. Ronnie Perelis, Chief Rabbi Dr. Isaac Abraham and Jelena Alcalay Assistant Professor of Sephardic Studies; Dr. Daniel Rynhold, Associate Professor of Modern Jewish Philosophy; Dr. Debra Kaplan, Dr. Pinkhos Churgin Memorial Assistant Professor of Jewish History; Dr. Aaron Koller, Assistant Professor of Bible; and Dr. Yaakov Elman, Professor of Jewish Studies. “Teaneck has become a flagship community of Modern Orthodoxy in its most impressive mode,” said David Berger, dean and Ruth and I. Lewis Gordon Professor of Jewish History at Revel. “We believe that academic Jewish studies pursued with appropriate reverence for tradition can profoundly enrich one’s understanding of Judaism and are delighted to embrace this partnership with Rinat Yisrael and the Teaneck community.” Admission is free but pre-registration is encouraged by December 27.
