Tech Connect

As a field, “tech” is extremely broad in its offerings, so on Thursday, March, 3, 2022, the Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development (SGC) brought together the four tech experts listed below to discuss the best ways to navigate the highways and byways of tech and showcase some of the different career possibilities.
  • Rebecca Levin (R&D Systems Engineer @Getinge; ’16S, Biology)
  • Professor Andrew Catlin (Former Startup Founder & Program Director @Katz School)
  • Professor Aleksandr Zhuk (Chief Information Security Officer @SFOX)
  • Carrie Cardona (Product Design Recruiter @Netflix)
The event began with a panel discussion where the professionals gave introductions and shared more about what led them to work within their sector of technology. Then participants moved into Zoom breakout rooms for about 35 minutes of networking, which each professional having his or her own breakout room. This set-up gave students the opportunity to move between rooms depending on their interests. Student leaders from Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Club, ACM (YC), and Stern Computer Science Club (ACM-W) facilitated the conversations in each room. Gabriel Aspir ’24YC (computer science major, Distributed Systems track) felt that “the Tech Connect event was a great opportunity for us to meet with people from industry. I personally enjoyed networking with Carrie Cardona, a product design recruiter at Netflix, who shared with us what she does at Netflix, and what we can do to really stand out in the recruiting process.” Check out the events and programs offered by the SGC for more great opportunities to connect with working professionals.
