YU High Schools Present Annual Dinner of Tribute

Feb. 28 Event Will Highlight YU High School for Boys' Centennial Celebration The Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/Yeshiva University High School for Boys (YUHSB) and the Samuel H. Wang Yeshiva University High School for Girls (YUHSG) will present their Annual Dinner of Tribute on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Marina del Rey in the Bronx, New York. This year also marks the centennial celebration of YU High Schools for Boys. The dinner honorees are Alan, David and Alex Goldberg; Nathan Lewin; Silvia and Abraham Borenstein; Jacqueline and Dov Borgen; Rabbi Shlomo Tiechtel; and Rabbi Shimon Schenker.

The Goldberg family has been a pillar of the YU High Schools for generations, and three family members—Alan ’72YUHSB and his sons David ’06YUHSB, ’11YC and Alex ’10YUHSB, ’14YC—will receive the first-ever Legacy Award in recognition and thanks for their longstanding commitment. Alan, of Riverdale and Atlantic Beach, New York, is a member of the Yeshiva University, Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, and YU High Schools Board of Trustees. He is co-founder and CEO of Lindsay Goldberg LLC, a private equity investment firm based in Manhattan. His wife, Miriam, serves as chair of the YUHS Board of Trustees. David is a partner at Audubon Trust and lives in Manhattan with his wife Gabrielle and three children. Alex is an associate at MFP Investors LLC and also resides in Manhattan with his wife Deena.

Lewin ’53YUHSB, who will receive the Centennial Leadership Awardis a renowned lawyer who has argued many well-publicized cases, including several before the Supreme Court. He has represented a diverse group of defendants ranging from Richard Nixon to John Lennon to the Lubavitcher Rebbe along with teaching constitutional law at Harvard Law School, the University of Chicago Law School and Columbia Law School. He currently resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife Rikki ’55YUHSG. Silvia and Abraham Borenstein of West Hempstead, New York, and Jacqueline and Dov Borgen ’88YUHSB of Monsey, New York, will be honored as Parents of the Year for YUHSG and YUHSB, respectively.

              Recognition will also be given to two outstanding faculty members: Rabbi Shimon Schenker, of Passaic, New Jersey, who currently serves as the associate principal in YUHSB and has taught there since 2001, and Rabbi Shlomo Tiechtel, of Crown Heights, New York, who has taught for more than 40 years in the YUHSG Judaic Studies Department.
