YU Mourns the Loss of Hal H. Beretz

The Yeshiva University community joins in mourning the loss of its committed leader and supporter, Hal H. Beretz of Great Neck, Long Island. A member of the University’s Board of Trustees for more than four decades, Mr. Beretz was a dedicated trustee as well as an honorary trustee.

Deeply involved in the establishment of the Sy Syms School of Business, he served as its founding chairman, a position in which he took great pride, and continued to serve as its honorary chairman for 12 years. In recognition of his impressive record of community service, Mr. Beretz received Yeshiva University’s Heritage Award in 1981.

President of Tendler Beretz LLC, a management consulting firm, Mr. Beretz helped fund the Beretz, Katz and Tendler Scholars, which provided financial support for deserving Sy Syms students pursuing their academic and professional goals.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Anita; his children, Deborah Kestenbaum, Susan (Bruce) Decter and Stuart (Suzanne) Beretz; and the entire family.

May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
