Upon completing my MA at Teachers College, I began teaching English in a Yeshiva environment, trying to foster in my students a vibrant understanding of literature. One of the main goals, I believe, in teaching students literature is to catalyze their critical thinking skills in a manner transferable to daily decisions. Questions necessarily arise as a result of reading texts that sometimes go against the grain of Jewish tradition. Having grappled with these questions myself, I felt a need to pursue an MA in Jewish Philosophy to gain fluency with the various pathways of Jewish thought so that I could have a stronger foundation to answer my own question and eventually guide students towards Jewish thinkers who have pondered variations of their questions and explored various answers. My studies at Revel have brought me to a place where I can provide students with tools to confront the ideological challenges rhetoric is known to espouse, and will always be grateful for this!
