Albert Einstein College of Medicine is happy to introduce the following events as a part of Earth Month:

  • Clothing Recycling: Beginning in early April, Einstein will be partnering with Wearable Collections to collect used clothing to be reused and recycled. Bins will be located in the Staff Housing buildings year round, as well as in the Forchheimer lobby throughout April.
  • Community Garden Planting Day: Sunday, April 10, at 1 p.m., behind the 1945 Staff Housing building, join the Einstein Gardening Club in their first planting of the season. A demonstration of composting also will be offered.
  • Bike Commuter Brown Bag Lunch Meet-up: Thursday, April 28, from noon to 2 p.m., Max & Sadie Lounge, come speak with other bike commuters and find out who may be riding the same route, exchange helpful tips, and learn about/pick up your free bike commuter shower pass for use in the Falk Center.
  • Community Clean Up: Saturday, April 30, from 9:30 to 11:30a.m., join Einstein students, faculty and staff as they help keep Einstein’s surrounding community clean. The first such event was a huge success, with more than 40 bags of trash collected between the Jack and Pearl Resnick campus and the Westchester Square subway station. This clean up will focus on another neighborhood adjacent to Einstein; watch for further details!
  • Origami Lesson: To support the continuing fund raising for earthquake/tsunami relief, APAMSA and the Einstein’s Japanese community group will demonstrate how to turn scrap paper (or any paper) into decorative origami figures. The date for this event is still being determined; watch campus flat screens for further information.

Also check the flat screens for information about other events during April, highlighting ways to recycle on campus, Einstein’s ride-share program and Einstein’s efforts to be “green,” and for upcoming events in May, which is National Bike Month.
