Wurzweiler Celebrates Two Historic Moments While Welcoming Incoming Class for Fall 2013
Wurzweiler School of Social Work welcomed a diverse group of incoming students for orientation and registration today. With WSSW offering several schedule options, including full-time, part time and accelerated programs, approximately one hundred new students are rounding out the School’s expanding enrollment. And, with a brand new Certificate Program in Jewish Philanthropy, Wurzweiler’s palette of Certificates is quickly becoming an additional attraction.
In her remarks to the students, Dean Carmen Ortiz Hendricks noted two historic events. Firstly, today marks the fiftieth anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom led by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., at which several of the WSSW Faculty were present. Secondly, a very recent development: for the first time in history, all five of the Dean’s at the five major Schools of Social Work in the New York City area are female.
The students attended a general orientation, then split into groups for focused additional information, and ultimately onto a registration. Classes begin the week of September 9th on both the Wilf and Beren Campuses of Yeshiva University.
