Meet Our Faculty: Dr. Kathryn Krase

Dr. Kathryn Krase, MSW, JD, PhD is a social worker, lawyer and social work educator. She is an expert in the reporting of suspected child maltreatment. She co-authored Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect: A Practical Guide for Social Workers. She serves as a mandated reporter trainer in New York and New Jersey. Dr. Krase has worked with New York State’s Office of Children and Family Services and New Jersey’s Department of Children and Families to identify concerns in reporting each state. Dr. Krase previously served as a law guardian and guardian ad litem representing children in New York City Family Court for the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. She has served as the associate director of Fordham University’s Interdisciplinary Center for Family and Child Advocacy and the clinical social work supervisor for the Family Defense Clinic at New York University Law School. She currently serves as vice president for the Social Work Educational Assessment Project (SWEAP) and is finalizing a textbook in child welfare policy and practice. Dr. Krase recently returned from a month-long assignment in Jordan as a Fulbright Specialist, where she assisted the country’s largest non-governmental organization, the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, in the alignment of their social service programming.
